Perhaps the most important mission of the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum and East Sioux Falls Historic Site is to share our passion for nature with the future stewards of our land. Fostering a child’s interest in nature is the best way to preserve our investment.

While the benefits of the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum and East Sioux Falls Historic Site are many, the initial concept grew out of a hope and desire to foster an appreciation for the role of trees in nature.

Mary Jo Wegner felt closer to life when she was outside. A believer in the Arboretum project, she helped the city of Sioux Falls plant the seed. It's up to us now to nurture the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum and East Sioux Falls Historic Site into its fullest potential.
